My classes enroll both graduate and undergrad students and use different grading schemes and different weights for assignments. Is there a way to manage this w/in Canvas?

Great question Julie! We’ll ask Sarah to answer this live the next time she pauses for questions.

Can you show us what this feedback, annotated feedback, looks like from the student view? I have students that sometimes say they cannot find their feedback and I don't know how to help them.

Hi Laura! Absolutely, that would be a good view to show to help get the student perspective.

I have a question about the feedback view. Can you review how to make it more visible to students

Can you say more about distinct assignments for graduate and undergraduate students? How do I make an additional assignment for grad students not count for the undergrads?

I was hoping to see how the annotated comments we provide looks from their lens

Me as well- I often make comments to the documents they submit for grading

Here’s the guide on how students can view annotations: https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Student-Guide/How-do-I-view-annotation-feedback-comments-from-my-instructor/ta-p/523

@Julie When you create an assignment, there

Is an assign to box at the bottom. You would just change it from everyone, to the students you want to complete that assignment (i.e. the grad students)

Thanks Kelley. I assume that Canvas then recognizes the differential weights that would result?

That assignment won’t be factored into students’ grades if they weren’t assigned to do it or it hasn’t been graded, so it just won’t be included. Therefore points possible will differ between the students.

Thanks. I think I've got a sense of how to handle this: two distinct assignments (assignment pages), one for each category of student) for each assignment, set up with different points for each.
