Thanks, Matthew!

11:08
Everyone might want to check to make sure they are muted.

20:37
Brandi, might you share your syllabus from that miscommunication and misunderstanding class...? :-)

20:41
Now that the initial testing phase is ending, the pop-up testing sites will be closing. Students who want or need to be tested should be encouraged to go to UHS to be tested moving forward or using a community testing site.

21:25
Matthew - how will the numbers from these external sites be reported if the UK test sites are closing

22:13
If they are a student then it's up to the student to inform HealthCorps if they test outside of the UK community.

22:49
Even if the student reports to UK from an external testing site, I didn't think their numbers were necessarily included in the numbers UK releases.

23:16
Correct Will those numbers are not reported by UK

23:18
Health Corp academic coordinator: leah.vance@uky.edu

23:59
speaking of notifications - Can we, or should we, ask for official documentation if a student tests positive or has been asked to quarantine by a contact tracer? Or if they have failed the daily screening and are missing class?

24:08
Robby Henson = Itad. My identity name seems to be the name of my Lap top hard drive.

24:46
Sorry Matt and Will I’m a bit confused does that mean now that the pop up sites are closed no numbers will be reported by UK?

25:08
Only tests conducted by UK are currently being reported.

25:23
Jennifer said there would be some repeat testing by UK and I assume those will be reported.

25:39
It also seems like they are taking a look at possibly changing the spring calendar.

30:56
What have you heard about required coverings for instructors? We’ve issued masks, shields, and installed plexiglas. If an instructor uses all three they won’t be clearly understood in-person and at home. So, for example, if someone uses a shield and plexiglas, and maintains greater than 6’ from any student, could they teach without a mask?

31:45
The revised CDC guidelines say if using a face shield, then you need to wear a mask as well.

32:00
I can't speak to face shield with plexiglass though.

33:06
These are awesome face-shields on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/ArtToFrames-GlassesShield_D_1Pack-1-Pack-Clear/dp/B0882XZN5G/ref=sr_1_6?crid=AGSFFOBQSHI2&dchild=1&keywords=art+to+frames+protective+face+shield&qid=1597852757&sprefix=art+to+frame,aps,175&sr=8-6

Fortunately we have a governor who’s committed to supporting higher education.

40:42
I think in the past the only thing that could be requested is proof that they were at the doctor not a diagnosis.

41:20
Who do we contact if we are having technical issues with classroom equipment?

41:24
Yes — good point, Will. The issue is it’s hard to get into a doctor right now, thus, the leeway

43:49
If you have problems or questions with equipment in the rooms, please contact:North Campus (CB 312): (859) 323-6455South Campus (NURS 207): (859) 257-5916avrequest@lsv.uky.edu

44:00
I think we just will have to give them grace and know sometimes students will game the system but it's not worth asking a lot of questions.

44:44
I agree, Matthew. I think it is a rare exception. The students really want to make this work. Assume the best =)

45:19
@Scott et al., I called the north campus help line on Thursday and got a long winded recorded message with several options that I ended up hanging up on because I needed immediate help. :(

45:39
Agree with Brandi. It may happen but most won’t lie about it and my perspective is we have to make it easy for students to follow their guidance.

46:20
I've been on campus and have students. For the most part students want to comply so that they can be on-campus.

46:38
My students have told me they feel like things in the classroom are going fine. They worry about what others are doing off campus.

46:38
I think there is a big question about if you have to wear a mask outside, either alone or in a group. There was a great letter from the editor of the Kernel about it.

47:35
Yes — good letter! Also, the opinion piece today by Natalie was good.

47:39
I am teaching MWF and I have not seen any violations of mask rule.

48:04
Same Raj…they are so happy to be face-to-face

48:22
Loved the headline. Act like Eli Capilouto is watching you all the time!

48:40
haha. Just like Santa

51:12
Same here Rachel, my students have told me that they are happy to have one face-to-face class at least.

51:46
It’s not just students. I’ve been happy to be back in the classroom, too. I’ve missed it.

Here is the transcript from the chat in the Campus Leadership webinar today:

01:00:42
"Q: Can instructors use discretion in terms of whether or not they use masks where there is also plexiglass in place?A: Anna Chalfant 12:29 PMFor now, plexiglass is to be viewed as an additional layer of protection. We are working with START and Legal Counsel for lanugage on this issue. We will submit a request to EOC for approval of this language. Once approved, we will distribute it more broadly. In the meantime, do not remove masks when behind plexiglass. If there is a class where important to see an instructor's mouth, face shields are approved for use instead of a mask. Additional language on this topic will come out regarding face shields based on updated CDC guidance."

01:02:04
Where can faculty access clear masks?

01:02:05
You can buy clear face masks as well. They are being used in daycares

01:02:35
Tracie has some people can try.

01:02:37
I have clear face masks. Please coordinate with unit heads

01:03:18
Amazon has a number of options in the kind of mask Scoobie’s describing.

01:03:37
And they’re relatively inexpensive.

01:04:36
Sorry I got disconnected.

01:06:24
Scott, where did you buy the mask that you just demonstrated. I am really struggling giving lectures in UK mask.

01:06:49
Wednesday

01:07:27
Thank you for taking the time to do this.

01:07:29
Can someone send around a link to the clear masks for students who need lip reading

01:08:07
UK Stores does have a variety of face shields, but not always in stock. There is a version for those with glasses too.

01:08:09
I ordered some today; I’ll let you know how they are when I get them.

thanks, everyone! I have to go. Have a great weekend!

01:09:53
I think there is a similar model to Scott's at UK Stores for around $2 each. UK Item #326574
