Now that the initial testing phase is ending, the pop-up testing sites will be closing. Students who want or need to be tested should be encouraged to go to UHS to be tested moving forward or using a community testing site.

Matthew - how will the numbers from these external sites be reported if the UK test sites are closing

If they are a student then it's up to the student to inform HealthCorps if they test outside of the UK community.

Even if the student reports to UK from an external testing site, I didn't think their numbers were necessarily included in the numbers UK releases.

speaking of notifications - Can we, or should we, ask for official documentation if a student tests positive or has been asked to quarantine by a contact tracer? Or if they have failed the daily screening and are missing class?

Only tests conducted by UK are currently being reported.

Jennifer said there would be some repeat testing by UK and I assume those will be reported.

It also seems like they are taking a look at possibly changing the spring calendar.

What have you heard about required coverings for instructors? We’ve issued masks, shields, and installed plexiglas. If an instructor uses all three they won’t be clearly understood in-person and at home. So, for example, if someone uses a shield and plexiglas, and maintains greater than 6’ from any student, could they teach without a mask?

The revised CDC guidelines say if using a face shield, then you need to wear a mask as well.

I can't speak to face shield with plexiglass though.

I think we just will have to give them grace and know sometimes students will game the system but it's not worth asking a lot of questions.

@Scott et al., I called the north campus help line on Thursday and got a long winded recorded message with several options that I ended up hanging up on because I needed immediate help. :(

Agree with Brandi. It may happen but most won’t lie about it and my perspective is we have to make it easy for students to follow their guidance.

I've been on campus and have students. For the most part students want to comply so that they can be on-campus.

My students have told me they feel like things in the classroom are going fine. They worry about what others are doing off campus.

I think there is a big question about if you have to wear a mask outside, either alone or in a group. There was a great letter from the editor of the Kernel about it.

I am teaching MWF and I have not seen any violations of mask rule.

UK Stores does have a variety of face shields, but not always in stock. There is a version for those with glasses too.
